Mission and Values

Our mission is the Great Commission which was given to the church by Jesus. The Great Commission, and our mission as Pearson Baptist Church is to go and make disciples in Pearl, Mississippi, and the world. We believe that the best approach to fulfilling this mission is by obeying the Great Commandment: Love God and Love Others.

Our mission as a church is to make disciples by first loving and connecting with God in a passionate way through corporate worship and private worship. Secondly, we believe that we can best make disciples by loving and connecting with each other (the church) through small groups and by doing life together while serving together. Lastly, we make disciples by loving and connecting with others (the world) by being the hands and feet of Christ to them.

The following core values guide and drive the ministry of this church. They help us keep focused on ministries that will help accomplish our purpose as a church.

1.) Mission Minded - We value the Great Commission as given by Jesus to the disciples and the church. The Great Commission compels us to value the lost in our community and around the world. (Matthew 28:16-20, Acts 1:6-8)

2.) Biblical Teaching - We value the Word of God in all of our teaching venues. We believe that the Bible is inspired, inerrant, and authoritative and must be taught in such a way that the lost come to know Christ and that Christians grow in their faith. ( Psalm 119, 1 Timothy 5:17, Matthew 5:17-18, 2 Timothy 3:15-16, 4:2)

3.) Authentic Worship - We value worship that is God-centered and authentic. God is supreme in value and He is worthy of our worship. Worship should be a private and corporate matter. We are told to worship God in Spirit and in truth. (Psalm29:2, 100:4, John 4:23-24, Romans 12:1-2)

4.) Gracious Giving -  We value and want to honor God through the giving of our resources. We believe as followers of Christ that we should desire to be conduits of His grace by freely giving of our time, talents, and treasure in order to express the value of God in our lives. (Matthew 6:19-24, Acts 2:42-47)

5.) Commitment to Excellence - We value excellence in all that we do. We believe that every church member should strive for excellence in their attendance, service, personal growth, financial support and in disciple-making. (Malachi 1:6-14, Colossians 3:17, 23)

6.) Powerful Prayer - We value prayer that is exercised with faith by church members privately, in life groups, and corporately. We believe that God desires for His people to pray and that He hears and answers prayers. Prayer lets us submit all things to Him, depend on His guidance, and it is a form of praise and thanksgiving t Him. (Matthew 6:6-13, Romans 8:26-27, Hebrews 4:15-26, James 5:13-18)

7.) Real Relationships - We value real meaningful relationships with God and others. We believe that our most important relationship is the one we have with God. It should be defined by love and devotion to Him. Our relationship with others inside the church should be defined by love, encouragement and growing together in Christ. Our relationship with those outside the church should be defined by love and influence that we have for them because of the Gospel. (Matthew 22:37-40)
